PYP 4 Week 9

Hopefully everyone had an active but relaxing sport break! We are now ready to work for another three weeks until it is time for spring break.

Reading Challenge

Please know that the school is now participating in the annual reading challenge. This year’s theme is Treasure Chest. PYP4 should read 15 chapter books (as a class) to earn one coin – please make sure your child continues to read and contributes to our success.

Math

We have now finished our unit about fractions and started on decimals. Our next topic will be mapping which should be exciting!

Unit

In unit, we have been looking at the moon’s different phases. With the homework, they should now be able to tell which phase the moon is currently in.

Visit to Dunkers Kulturhus

On the 7th of March PYP 4 will visit Dunkers to have a cultural experience with singing, dancing, acting and playing instruments. We will leave at 10:15 and return for lunch at school.

Appropriate Clothing

Please understand that the children are outside daily, in any weather condition. Therefore, it is essential that your child has a warm winter coat, hat, gloves, rain/snow pants, and warm boots every day.

End of year trip to Copenhagen

With the funds that we raised during Winter Fair we will be able to visit Copenhagen Glyptotek! All PYP 4 classes will be going to see the Egyptian mummy exhibition on May 31st. This trip links with our unit for that time which is ‘Where We Are In Place and Time’ and looks at how knowledge of history helps us to discover how the world has changed. A permission slip will be sent home in May. Please be aware that your child will need an in date passport in order for them to return to Sweden, teachers will keep all passports during the field trip and they will be returned to your child at the end of the day. If you child does not come to school with their passport they will not be able to come on the trip.

Homework

Unfinished class work may be sent home as homework so that we can move on with other material in the classroom.

Reading: 20 minutes per day. Raz kids can be used as a part of your 20 minutes. Although, please make sure to read your chapters in the literacy circle book first.
